Unheard-of Ensemble to Perform at UW March 21

Unheard-of Ensemble, a contemporary chamber music quartet, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 21, in the University of Wyoming’s Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

Part of a three-day UW Department of Music residency that also includes workshops and recording sessions, the concert will feature music by Robert McClure, NNUX, Jessica Meyer and Vicki Nguyen as well as the premiere of two works by UW faculty member Nicolas Chuaqui.

Unheard-of also will present a free, public composer workshop-performance at 4 p.m. Friday, March 22, in the recital hall.

Brooklyn-based Unheard-of Ensemble is dedicated to connecting new music to communities in New York and across the U.S. through the development and performance of adventurous programs using technology and interactive multimedia. The ensemble is composed of Daniel Anastasio, piano; Iva Casian-Lakoš, cello; Ford Fourqurean, clarinet; and Matheus Souza, violin.

Unheard-of originally started as a commissioning project by Anastasio and Fourqurean in 2014 to expand the chamber music repertoire for clarinet and piano. The group formed as a quartet in 2018 and has since grown into a “nationwide community” across multiple artistic genres.

With an approach that is open and welcoming of all voices, Unheard-of strives to be a vehicle for the development and growth for voices novel and experienced, experimental and traditional, uncomfortable and accessible.
