Violinist Spadino Pippa and Pianist Han to Perform at UW March 8

Jiwon Han and Simone Spadino PippaAward-winning Italian violinist Simone Spadino Pippa and University of Wyoming Department of Musica collaborative pianist Jiwon Han will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 8, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts recital hall. The recital is free and open to the public.

The program will feature music for violin and piano by Johannes Brahms, Niccolo Paganini, Alexy Shor-Pletnev and Maurice Ravel.

Spadino Pippa, a master student of Pavel Vernikov, from the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna in Vienna, Austria, has played as a soloist and chamber musician in prestigious concert halls throughout the world. Spanish composer Manuel Martinez Burgos says Spadino Pippa is a “rare mixture of strength and delicacy in his performances.”

A Pirastro Young Artist, Spadino Pippa serves as principal guest soloist of Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, in Dallas, Texas; Arlington Symphony Orchestra, in Arlington, Texas; and Garland City Symphony Orchestra, in Garland, Texas; and has performed with the Colorado Chamber Players in Denver, Colo.; Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra, in Kaunas, Lithuania; Magna Grecia Symphony Orchestra, in Taranto, Italy; Perosiensemble Chamber Orchestra, in Biella, Italy; Kaliningrad Symphony Orchestra of Russia; Orchestra Sinfonica dei 131 Comuni, in Potenza, Italy; and Camerata Ducale Chamber Orchestra, in Vercelli, Italy.

Han, an award-winning South Korea-born pianist, conductor and educator, has appeared in major concert venues around the world, performing with chamber music ensembles as a collaborative pianist and as an orchestral pianist in a wide range of genres.

He has released two solo albums, titled “Debut” and “Romanticism,” and two collaborative albums -- a live performance with violinist Zia Shin, titled “Bach-Schubert,” and “Works by German Composers” with violinist Fangting Chen.

Han is a producer for the Korean Broadcasting System for live performances, and has conducted for Amabile Teachers’ Orchestra, GAHS Alumni Concert Orchestra and the GHM choir in Korea. He also is a researcher and studies the music of Black and female composers and U.S. history focusing on diversity and equity.
