The Research & Economic Development Division is a service organization to the faculty, staff, and students of the University of Wyoming. It is our goal to provide swift, accurate, and expert service to enhance the research missions of individuals and various units within the University. To that end, we have labored to place the assets within the division onto the desktops of researchers through this website. The Research & Economic Development Division works with faculty, staff, and students in all seven colleges and UW's outreach programs to link research, technology transfer, and economic development efforts to enhance federal, state, and private sector support for faculty and graduate student scholarship. In a real sense, the division coordinates the origination, organization, and execution of UW's research mission with principal investigators, departments, colleges, centers, and institutes. Also, the division, through the Research Product Center, works with faculty, staff, and student inventors to identify, protect, and commercialize various kinds of intellectual property. These services are provided so that scholarly activities accomplished at UW enhance the creation of new knowledge, new applications of existing knowledge, and positively impact economic development and society in general.

The UW-NPS Grand Teton Research Center is a collaboration between the University of Wyoming and Grand Teton National Park. It has been conducting research in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem since 1953. Initially based at the Jackson Hole Biological Research Station, it relocated to the AMK Ranch in 1978. In 2010, a ten-year general agreement was established between the university and the park, allowing for a long-term cooperative research program. The University of Wyoming is responsible for maintaining the buildings and surrounding land at the AMK Ranch, while the park ensures compliance with standards for historic properties. Progress is tracked through the Facility Management Software System (FMSS).
The University of Wyoming is inviting applications for Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellows for conducting convergence research at the intersection of different disciplines. This year, the program will support a cohort of up to six postdoctoral fellows for two-year terms. Postdoctoral fellows participating in the program will receive professional development opportunities, including entrepreneurship-focused workshops, and mentorship from experts in at least two disciplines. Projects involving collaboration with DOE National Laboratories are encouraged.
