American Business Information, Inc ABI has information quite similar to D&B and some of it is free.

 
Hoovers Online Hoovers Online provides short company profiles. Some of the information is free. MIT-Sloan students have full-access for free for class projects.

 
EDGAR EDGAR provides the latest Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings including annual and quarterly reports, and other corporate filings. All of it is free.

 
U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) The SBA provides the latest information about programs which support small businesses and start-ups.

 
Business Monitor Online This site provides information primarily for international businesses.

 
industry.net Industry.net provides information on different types of industrial suppliers including links to them. It is free, but you have to register to use it.
