 Officer Responsibilities
President
- Leads or facilitates planning and implementation of programs (e.g. alumni recognition, community service activity, speakers, workshops)
- Works with other officers and advisors to develop meeting agendas and distributes them to members before meetings
- Leads business meetings
- Provides leadership (encouragement, motivation, guidance for other officers and members in planning and implementing plans)
- Follows a theme throughout a semester year
- Works with Vice-President who serves as parliamentarian for all business meetings to ensure that Robert's Rules of Order are being followed
- Appoints committees as needed
- Participates in the student activities of the AAFCS student group
- Coordinates student member activities by fostering communications among campus students
- Provides information and encourages student members to attend affiliate and national workshops and annual conventions
- Encourages local association and individual members to use and submit articles to the journal of Family and Consumer Sciences: From Research to Practice.
- Encourages professionalism through personal actions and conduct
- Provides leadership in doing budgeting in the spring for the next year's activities
- Plans and conducts a program and budget planning the spring for the next year
Vice President
- Works with the President to coordinate planning and leadership
- Provides leadership for development of programs, works with students chairing activity planning committees
- Leads or facilitates planning and implementation of programs (e.g. alumni recognition, community service activity, speakers, workshops)
- Gives Vice President's report at regular business meetings
- Encourage professionalism through personal actions and conduct
- Organizes and/or sponsors two brown bag lunches or other sessions with local professionals and invite members to come, talk, ad learn more about a particular field
- Works with Graduate Liaison to organize an alumni recognition activity
- Serves as parliamentarian for all business meetings to ensure that members learn to use Robert's Rules of Order
- Works with Treasurer and advisors to develop ASUW funding requests
- Organizes yearly election of officers
- Organizes yearly collaborative event with CSU AAFCS members
- Leads member recruitment activities
Treasurer
- Works with the Department of FCS accountant to keep and report accurate financial records and manage funds to meet objectives and conduct plan of work for the year
- Encourage professionalism through personal actions and conduct
- Gives officer report at regular business meetings, i.e. fundraising plans and activities
- Gives treasurer's report at business meetings
- Works with officers and advisors to coordinate planning and leadership
- Works with other officers and advisors to develop a budget in the spring for the next year
- Checks the budget before funds are expended, collects bills and receipts
- Collects and keeps records of membership fees
- Leads the group in planning fundraising events for designated purposes
- Organizes fundraiser events
- Work with Vice President and advisors to develop ASUW funding requests
Secretary
- Records the minutes of the student section meetings and distributes them to members shortly after each meeting, allowing members time to carry out commitments
- Gives Secretary's report at regular business meetings
- Read minutes of previous meeting at each business meeting for approval
- Writes correspondence, including thank you notes, as necessary
- Keeps minutes and other correspondence in Secretary's notebook in an organized fashion
- Encourages professionalism through personal actions and conduct
- Works with the President and Vice President to coordinate planning and leadership
- Presents a report of activities at each meeting
- Keeps student information current (email address book)
Publicists
- Gives officer report at regular business meetings on promotion of upcoming events and activities, website development and maintenance, and recruitment
- Chairs webpage development and updating committee
- Assists committees in publicizing events and programs
- Keeps bulletin board current
- Posts list of upcoming activities on website and bulletin board
- Works with Vice-President to develop orientation packets for next year's freshman and transfer students
- Encourages professionalism through personal actions and conduct
Historian/ Archivist
- Responsible for having photographs taken at meetings and activities
- Keeps a photo and narrative record of the organization's meetings and activities
- Gives officer report at regular business meetings on materials collected and/or needed from others for the archives
- Encourages professionalism through personal actions and conduct
- Works with Secretary and Treasurer to be sure there is a complete record of minutes, treasurer's reports, correspondence, officers, activities, and other important information maintained as the official record of the organization
- Works with the President to coordinate planning and leadership
- Chairs Mentor Program
Ag Council Representative
- Attends all Ag Council meetings and give reports at business meetings
- Participates in program and budget planning in the spring for the next year
- Encourages professionalism through personal actions and conduct
- Chair the community service project
