Aaron Freland
Aaron Freland serves at the Manager of the A&S Academic Advising Center. He joined the College of Arts & Sciences Dean’s Office in 2018 as a Senior Academic Advisor. Freland’s role includes advising first-year and transfer students studying biology, botany, physiology, wildlife and fisheries biology management, and zoology. He meets with students to discuss academic plans, career goals, and concerns.
Prior to joining UW, Freland was employed as an Academic Advising/Student Success Specialist at the Iowa Valley Community College District for five years. Freland also worked in the Office of Admissions at Iowa State University for two years and focused on transfer student recruitment and event planning.
Freland holds an associate’s degree in liberal arts from Marshalltown Community College, a bachelor’s degree in elementary/science education from Iowa State University, and a master’s degree in higher education/student affairs from Iowa State University.
When not on the job, Freland can be found in the mountains hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing, and camping.
