Change Your UWYO Domain Password

Introduction

Your UWYO domain account is the account that you use to access WyoWeb and also the account you use to log on to your UW office computer or the UWSTUDENT lab computers, access your UW e-mail, edit your UW Web sites, and access UW dial-up or DSL. Therefore, changing your UWYO domain account password will change it for all of these services at once.

If you know your UWYO domain password and would like to change it, you can now do so from any computer that has Internet access through the WyoWeb portal at http://wyoweb.uwyo.edu, which is the recommended method. You can also change it from any UWYO domain computer.

Recommendations for password maintenance.

NOTE: If you have forgotten your password or have not received it yet, see the Tips section at the end of this document.

Procedure

  1. Changing Your UWYO Domain Password Through WyoWeb

NOTE: This method is the recommended method of changing a UWYO domain password as it applies to individuals both on campus and off and can be completed from any computer that has access to the Internet. This is the only method available to individuals that do not have access to campus UWYO domain computers.

    1. Go to http://wyoweb.uwyo.edu.

    2. Log in to WyoWeb with your current UWYO username and password.

    3. Once logged in, click My Account in the upper left-hand corner of the page.

    4. On the My Account Preferences page, in the Change Password section, in the Current Password box, enter the password you are currently using; in the New Password box, enter the password you would like to start using; in the Confirm Password box, re-enter the new password, and then click the Save Changes button.

NOTE: Make sure to read through the rules for password selection prior to entering a new password.

    5. If your new password was entered successfully and met with the rules for password selection, you will see "Your password has been successfully changed" in red in the following page. If your password was not entered successfully or did not meet the rules for password selection, you will be presented with the reason in red on the following page and will need to re-enter your password selection.

    6. Once your password has been changed successfully, click the Done button to return to the WyoWeb tab that you began in.

  2. Changing Your UWYO Domain Password from a UWYO Domain Computer

NOTE: This method can only be completed from a UWYO domain computer (i.e. your on campus UWYO office computer or a UWSTUDENT lab computer).

    1. Log onto a UWYO domain computer with your current UWYO domain username and password. Make sure the Log on to box shows UWYO.

    2. Once logged on, press CTRL+ALT+DEL.

    3. In the Windows Security window, click Change Password.

    4. In the Change Password window, in the Old Password box, type the password you are currently using.

    5. In the New Password box, type the password you would like to start using.

    6. In the Confirm New Password box, type your new password again.

    7. Click OK.

    8. Once the message stating your password has been changed successfully has appeared, click OK.

    9. Log off of the computer, and log back in with your new password.

Tips

  1. If you have forgotten your password after originally setting it through WyoWeb by answering the personal security questions that are a part of the process, you can reset it through WyoWeb by clicking on Forgot your password? Click here in the Secure Access Login box, entering your username, and then answering the personal questions as you had originally.

NOTE: These answers are case sensitive, so you need to enter them exactly as you originally had.

  2. If you cannot remember the answers that you had originally provided through WyoWeb, contact the IT Help Desk for assistance.
