Why does my phone ring somewhere else when someone dials my number? Again, your line may be call forwarded to another number. Single line telephone set users: pick up handset, hear dial tone, press #71, hear special confirmation tone, hang up. Multi-line telephone set users: press CFW key to cancel the Call Forward feature. The indicator light will go off. Why, when I dial a number, do I hear a loud screeching noise? You have probably dialed a number which is connected to a modem or a fax machine. Why do I only hear a beep when I answer my phone? The call may be coming from a fax machine. If calls persist, the help desk may be able to assist you. Why can't I call long distance using my U.W. Authorization Code?
Why is my display not working? If your set requires external power, is it plugged in? Is it plugged into a power strip that is turned off? Why do I have to reset the time and date on my Maestro telephone every morning? If the external power to the Maestro is plugged into a power strip that you frequently turn off, move it to a power supply that will always remain active. Please check for the following or be prepared to answer these questions when you call the Help Desk:
