ServerProtect Antivirus Server Protection Frequently Asked Questions

ServerProtect is intended to detect and remove viruses and malicious code from servers.

How is the ServerProtect software supported?

Support for this server software is available through Trend Micro only. The software is provided as-is, and IT does not provide any software guarantee.

How do I obtain a license?

IT has purchased user licenses for all faculty and staff windows.uwyo.edu  (UWYO) domain accounts. Licenses for registered students, independent consultants, and anonymous users of public Web servers are included with the purchase of these licenses. You may utilize this software on any server where every faculty or staff member that accesses the server has a UWYO domain account, though they do not necessarily have to use the account.  You may install the software on as many servers as desired provided they meet the user qualification.

How do I obtain the media and serial number to activate the software?

The latest version of the ServerProtect media can be downloaded from the Trend Micro Update Center: ServerProtect Web page (www.trendmicro.com/download/product.asp?productid=17).

You must review, sign, and deliver the UW Trend Micro ServerProtect Agreement (www.uwyo.edu/itsecuredocs/serverprotect/sp_agreement.htm) to the front desk in the lobby of the Information Technology Center. You will then be granted access to //uwapps/antivirus/serverprotect/. The serial number to activate the software is provided in the License.txt file at that location.

Access to the network share providing the serial number to activate the software will be granted only to the fulltime staff or faculty member covered by this Agreement. The serial number may be distributed to authorized personnel with the understanding that the signer of this Agreement is responsible for verifying that the ServerProtect license restrictions are upheld for all systems.

The use of the ServerProtect software and the responsibilities of Trend Micro in relation to this software are defined in the Trend Micro License Agreement (www.uwyo.edu/ITSECUREDOCS/serverprotect/PackageLicEnUS0403.htm).
