Nov. 21, 2007 -- Holiday art, music and the Festival of Trees, a silent auction of specially-decorated Christmas trees, will be featured at the University of Wyoming Art Museum’s annual Happy Holidays Laramie! event.

The Festival of Trees begins Thursday, Nov. 29 from 6-8 p.m., with a lighting reception and continues Friday, Nov. 30 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The silent auction ends at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1; bidders do not need to be present to win. All proceeds will benefit UW Art Museum programs.

Happy Holidays Laramie! will feature almost 1,000 original works of art by Albany County students from 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. Both free events are located at the UW Art Museum in the Centennial Complex at 22nd and Willet Drive.

Musical performances by school and community groups, holiday activities in the Shelton Studio, a Kid’s Store with gift-wrapping workshop and a visit with Santa Claus also will highlight the holiday festivities.

Happy Holidays, Laramie! is sponsored by First Interstate Bank and is funded in part by June Allen, American National Bank, Duane Toro Real Estate, First National Bank, Holland Cleaners and UniWyo Federal Credit Union.

The Art Museum and museum store are open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free. For more information, call the Art Museum at (307) 766-6622 or visit www.uwyo.edu/artmuseum.
