By Rich Olson, Rangeland Wildlife Habitat Cooperative Extension Service Specialist,

Department of Renewable Resources

The supplemental feeding of wild birds is fast becoming a popular pastime in Wyoming. Bird feeding allows one to observe bird behavior up close, take photographs, and sharpen identification skills.

How to select various food supplements, the types of feeders available, and how to place feeders are discussed in this publication. Feeder maintenance, guidelines for successful feeding, how to avoid food-supply problems, water sources, and how to discourage pests, predators, and aggressive birds are described in the publication.
