UW to Observe Constitution Day Thursday

Sept. 15, 2009 --The University of Wyoming's annual Constitution Day observance will include a town hall-style meeting with Albany County legislators, a Constitution Bee with cash prizes and an information table in the Wyoming Union breezeway.

Benjamin Barr, a UW College of Law alumnus who now serves as policy and legal adviser to the Wyoming Liberty Group, will deliver the keynote address during the town hall-style meeting from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in the Gardens on the lower level of the Union. Barr will address Wyoming history and the state constitution.

The day's events are sponsored by The Young Constitutionalists, a newly formed student group whose mission is to develop and train tomorrow's leaders while working to promote education of the U.S. Constitution. The club will provide free pizza and, in partnership with the Wyoming Liberty Group, will award cash prizes to the winners of the Constitution Bee.

The information table will include free pocket copies of the U.S. Constitution.

The Wyoming Liberty Group was founded in 2008 with the purpose of inviting citizens to prepare for informed, active and confident involvement in local and state government. For more information, go to the Web site at www.wyliberty.org.
