Early Care and Education Center

Nikki Baldwin, Curriculum Coordinator

A commitment to merging theory and practice in early childhood classrooms is what motivates Nikki's work at the ECEC.  She believes that reflective teaching practices open up unlimited possibilities for growth in early childhood teachers and in the children they work with every day.  Nikki draws from her 15 years of experience in early childhood education to support teachers in creating beautiful learning spaces, extending the classroom outdoors, developing an emergent/negotiated curriculum, and using authentic assessment in the classroom.

Nikki earned a PhD in Curriculum Studies from the University of Wyoming in 2013.  In addition to her administrative responsibilities at the ECEC, Nikki teaches early childhood courses at UW and consults with early childhood programs in Wyoming, Colorado, and Nebraska.  Nikki has also developed an international internship in early childhood education, taking students to Kathmandu Nepal every two years.  When not thinking and talking about early childhood curriculum, Nikki enjoys reading, gardening, tending her chickens, and adventuring in the surrounding mountains with her daughter, Andie, and their dog Molly.
