Current Research Interests:

Medical Image Segmentation using Deep Learning

Approaches to segment organs and tumors in MRI, CT-Scan and Ultrasound images using Deep Learning Networks are being researched. Deep learning networks like Convolution Neural Network (CNN), Reinforcement Neural Network (RNN) and Generative Adversarial Network (GNN) are being researched.

Transient Stability and Contingency Analysis of Modern Power Grid using HPC and Machine Learning Approaches

Using GPGPU based HPC, algorithms to solve Ordinary Differential Equations (ODEs) parallel in time have been researched. Machine learning algorithms are being researched to perform contingency analysis.

High Performance Computing and Visualization in Climate Research

GPGPU based HPC is being researched to accelerate climate codes like MPAS and WRF. AR devices have been used to visualize hurricanes.

Augmented Reality (AR) Devices for Medical Applications

The use of AR devices like Microsoft HoloLens and Meta2 from MetaVision in medical applications are being researched. The first application of the AR research is on adapting the AR devices for medical professionals to visualize MRI, CT-Scan and Ultrasound images as 3D holograms and allow medical professionals to share the 3D holograms in real time with a patient and also with other remote medical professions.
The second application of the AR research is to use the AR devices in training medical professionals on epidural injection process. The research is to have a medical professional practice epidural injection process on the 3D holograms constructed from MRI, CT-Scan and Ultrasound images with haptic feedback.
