April 5, 2007 -- The University of Wyoming will hold a public presentation on the university's near-term construction plans Thursday, April 12, from 3-5 p.m. in the College of Agriculture auditorium.

The two projects to be discussed are the expansion and renovation of William Robertson Coe Library, known as the Information, Library and Learning (IL2C) project; and construction of the new information technology building. Both projects are expected to begin this summer.

Participating in the presentation will be representatives of the university's facilities planning and transportation and parking offices, as well as a city of Laramie engineer.

The library project will involve demolition of the existing anthropology building along Ivinson Street between 13th and 14th Streets and expansion of Coe Library into that space. Prior to the start of construction, the anthropology department will move into the Anthropological and Archaeological Research Facility now being built on Lewis Street. During construction of the library project, traffic patterns along Ivinson Street and parking in the lot behind the Wyoming Union will be affected.

The information technology project will involve demolition of the existing Honors House at the east end of Sorority Row. Traffic patterns and parking in the lot to the east of Fraternity and Sorority Rows will be affected. The Honors House function will be moved to the former Kappa Sigma fraternity house on the west end of Fraternity Row.

Diagrams illustrating changes during construction will be made available at the presentation; following the presentation, the same material will be displayed on the Facilities Planning Office Web site: www.uwyo.edu/facilitiesplanning.
