Candlelight Vigil for Virginia Tech Victims Tuesday

Printable Article Email this Article

A candlelight vigil in remembrance of the victims of Virginia Tech will be held Tuesday, April 24, at 8 p.m. on Prexy's Pasture, at the University of Wyoming.

Vice President for Student Affairs Sara Axelson, Assistant Dean of Students Dennis Dreher, outgoing ASUW President Travis Jordan, and outgoing ASUW Vice President Becca Freeburn are scheduled to speak. Attendees will be able to write messages of support on University of Wyoming flags.

"We feel that the tragedies of Virginia Tech should not and cannot go unnoticed. This vigil is a good way for UW students, staff, faculty, and the Laramie community to come together to honor and support the victims and the families of Virginia Tech," says Laura Roberts, the ASUW ex officio for Panhellenic Council, one of the event’s organizers.

The Associated Students of UW, in conjunction with Greek Affairs, UW Athletics and the Non-Traditional Student Council sponsor the vigil. For more information, call Roberts at (307) 351-2350, or Caroline Morris at (307) 766-5552.
