UW Recognizes Greek Achievements

April 24, 2007 -- Individuals and chapters were recognized for their leadership, scholarship and service contributions during the 2006-07 Greek Achievement Awards ceremony held Monday at the University of Wyoming.

The Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils, in partnership with the Dean of Students Office, recognized the students and chapters.

This year's individual recipients are:

Greek Woman of the Year -- Ashley Spear, Cheyenne, Kappa Kappa Gamma; Rebecca Freeburn, Fort Laramie, Delta Delta Delta.

Greek Man of the Year -- Clint Jasperson, Cheyenne, Sigma Chi; Jeremy Zilmer, Alliance, Neb., Sigma Alpha Epsilon.

New Member of the Year, Sorority -- Kelsey Kurtz, Fort Collins, Colo., Kappa Kappa Gamma.

New Member of the Year, Fraternity -- Christopher Averill, Cheyenne, Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Margaret C. Tobin Scholarship recipient -- Maurisa Jensen, Cheyenne, Kappa Kappa Gamma.

Chapter awards for excellence were presented to Delta Delta Delta and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. The community service awards were presented to Kappa Kappa Gamma and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. The awards for outstanding chapter programming went to Delta Delta Delta and Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Scholastic programming awards were given to Kappa Kappa Gamma and Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
