Aug. 26, 2004 -- The Gamma Xi chapter of Sigma Chi at the University of Wyoming received the fraternity's highest undergraduate honor, the Peterson Significant Chapter award. It was presented at the fraternity's recent annual leadership training workshop at Kansas State University.

The award recognizes strong performance in all areas of chapter operations. Award criteria include scholarship, member retention, financial stability, pledge retention, campus activities and leadership, campus and community service, faculty and alumni relations, initiation and pledge programs. This year, only 29 chapters nationally received this award, sponsored by the Sigma Chi Foundation.

"It's a significant accomplishment for our Sigma Chi chapter to be recognized as one of the nation's best," says Matt Caires, assistant dean of students at UW. "Pi Kappa Alpha, Delta Delta Delta, and Alpha Gamma Rho all have been recognized in the past two years with similar awards from their national organizations. This is a clear sign that the UW Greek community is moving in the right direction."
