College Bowl Champions Move on to Regional Competition

Feb. 6, 2003 -- The winners of Wednesday's University of Wyoming College Bowl qualified for the regional competition Feb. 21-23 at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.

Members of the winning team are: Leif Paulson of Rawlins, freshman in pre-medicine and chemistry, Brandon Goodchild Drake of Thermopolis, freshman in anthropology, and Paul Hertz of Nevada, Iowa, sophomore in music composition. They answered questions involving history, literature, science, multiculturalism, religion, geography, current events, the arts, social sciences, sports and popular culture.

The Chi Omega team placed second. Members are Brooke Barney of Laramie, a junior in agricultural business and political science; Lindsey Delauter of Gillette, a sophomore in geology; Jessica Jones of Lincoln, Neb., senior in animal and veterinary sciences; and Samantha Staggs of Fort Collins, Colo., sophomore in music.

College Bowl is a question and answer game of general knowledge and quick recall. It provides an arena for the brightest students on campus to demonstrate their skills in varsity competition.

Iron Skull, the junior class honorary, and the Associated Students of UW sponsored the event.
