PRIVACY AND SECURITY
A significant concern in all areas of health informatics is the privacy and security of electronic health information stored on, or transmitted among, health information systems.  While there are many benefits associated with electronic health information, both providers and consumers have been reluctant to adopt not, not in the least because of their fear that their information will be compromised or released to unwanted entities.

The CRHRE has participated in a nationwide project to help understand and overcome the barriers to the adoption of health information technologies, the Health Information Security and Privacy Collaborative (HISPC) project.   For more on this project, click on the “Topic Project” link in the column to the right.

For more information on privacy and security in electronic health information systems, including links to Web sites, papers published by CRHRE staff, and various other resources, click on the “Topic Resources” link in the column to the right.
