There is no doubt that across the world, every country's pursuit of happiness is fraught with obstacles. International Studies majors see these obstacles as something more than just local issues unconnected to the world at large; International Studies majors value the global perspective and exploring how the broader global outlook can solve a region's problems. Our majors excel at identifying these core problems and resolve to fix them in creative ways. The IS Program has distilled these obstacles into four major categories we call our Global Tracks:
The GCR track explores how nations use diplomacy to solve problems with other countries and within their own country. GCR track students usually take classes relating to crime and punsiment, warfare, resource competition, and foreign relations. Here are some recent course examples:
The ISI track focuses on how the social structures of a nation affect its quality of citizenship. ISI track students usually take classes relating to social justice, religion and philosophy, the arts, and public programs. Here are some recent course examples:
The GES track delves into the processes by which nations conduct business, generate money, and distribute wealth. GES track students usually take classes in economics, international business, markets, and finance. Here are some recent course examples:
The IDG track examines how nations manage natural resources and the environment. Students usually take classes in geography, agriculture, and sustainability. Here are some recent course examples:
