JUNIOR SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES SYMPOSIUM (JSHS)
FOR WYOMING AND EASTERN COLORADO
Date: March 30 Monday and March 31 Tuesday Regional at the University of Wyoming

National for top five presenters April 29 to May 3 at

The U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colorado

This spring of 2009

JSHS is funded by the Army, Navy and Air Force of the United States of America in order to encourage high school students, grades 9 to 12, to enter college level studies in science and engineering. The students involved come from 48 regions from all parts of the United States, territories, and overseas military base high schools.

The JSHS gives high school students the opportunity to present their scientific research work in front of an audience in much the same way as they would at a professional science meeting. With only slides, overhead, Power Point or backboard they let the audience know what they have done in their chosen research area.

The time and place for symposium: 8 A.M. Tuesday March 31, 2008 at the Hampton Inn (www.hamptoninn.com) near the campus of the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyoming.

There will be only one presentation session (no concurrent sessions) and the number of presenters will limited to a maximum of eighteen. Submitted papers will be evaluated and the presenters chosen from among them.

The following will be paid by your JSHS:
Rooms- Monday night and Tuesday night. [For student speakers, chaperons (teachers, parents, etc.), and, if space permits, guest student observers.]
Meals- Breakfast and lunch Tuesday and Wednesday, Dinner Tuesday. [For student speakers, chaperons (teachers, parents, etc.), and guest student observers.]

To be accepted: The student must submit a paper describing the science project the student wishes to present by Friday, March 6, 2009. The paper is best sent to me in an email as a Microsoft Word file (rpgeorge@uwyo.edu), but if necessary may come in another format or by postal mail or fax. If you have trouble meeting the deadline, call me at the number below.

Awards from the Regional competition include scholarship money, and a trip to Colorado Springs, April 29 to May 3rd, 2009 to compete for additional scholarship money. Past winners.
