We’ll be re-screening “Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price” Sunday, 11/20/05 at 7:30 PM in the College of Education Auditorium.

Last night’s (11/16/05) screening of “Walmart:  The High Cost of Low Price” was phenomenal.  We counted 250-300 people.  There was standing room only, and the aisles were packed full of people (it was a fire danger).

Because of the overwhelming demand/response, we’ve organized a second screening of the film.

When?  This Sunday, November 20, 2005 7:30 PM Where?  The College of Education Auditorium

Please RSVP

Also, a number of individuals asked me about my Holocaust talk after the screening last night.

It can be viewed here.

Everyone has seen Wal-Mart's lavish television commercials, but have you ever wondered why Wal-Mart spends so much money trying to convince you it cares about your family, your community, and even its own employees? What is it hiding?  This film takes you behind the glitz and into the real lives of workers (and their families) and business owners (and their communities), in an extraordinary journey that will challenge the way you think, feel...and shop.

LPAC President Josh Thompson was distributing handbills for this screening on Friday 11/11, when one of the women he furnished a handbill to replied that she worked for Walmart.  Mr. Thompson replied, “All the more reason for you to come and see this important film.”  She replied, “I can’t.  Management will be attending this screening, and if any Walmart employee is seen by them attending any screening, we’ve been told that we will be fired.”  So, apparently, this documentary is so threatening to Walmart that they’ve already threatened their employees with termination if they so much as see this important film.  Don’t you wonder why?
