Summer Consulting Program

Project Information

Project engagement: mid-May to mid-July

Sponsors will become beneficiaries of findings and recommendations from MBA students who have diverse skills, knowledge, backgrounds, and work experience while forging new relationships with College of Business faculty and staff.

Ideal project description:

  • Addresses a real challenge or strategic opportunity
  • Has strong support from senior-level management
  • Incorporates a multidisciplinary approach
  • May be completed within noted project engagement time period
  • Demands actionable recommendations

Sponsor responsibilities:

  • Identify a key strategic initiative(s)
  • Appoint company liaison(s)
  • Provide access to information and personnel
  • Share insight into ideal team member credentials (previous work experience, skills sets, etc.)
  • Meet with a faculty advisor and MBA Director to discuss the project
  • Scope agreed upon deliverables and timing
  • Determine the frequency of on-site visits and provide office space for student team (onsite data gathering, interviews, etc.)
  • Ensure senior management attendance at the final presentation


  • Primary Objectives: offset internal project and administrative costs
  • For accounting purposes, engagement fees are designed to be treated as gifts to the MBA program
