The program starts in May and finishes in August of the following year: 15 months (4 semesters).
There is no waiting list for the BRAND program. The application will be available
on September 15, and the applications are due November 1 of the same year. Students
who want to re-apply the following year are welcome to do so.
The BRAND program only has a statute of limitations on two prerequisites: PHCY 3450 and PHCY 4470; they must be completed within three years of the May start date.
Students can be admitted to the program without the Wyoming history course, but the course has to be completed before a student can graduate. It is not a petitionable requirement; it is a state statute. Students can take the course through UW or LCCC (Laramie County Community College) as an on-line course.
Yes, one may still apply even if prerequisites are not completed by November 1. However, applicants who have all of the prerequisite coursework done, and have their CNA license by November 1, are given preference. (This is not meant to indicate that everyone with the prerequisite coursework completed and the CNA license in hand is automatically accepted).
Yes. When the students start in May, the instructor starts the skills class knowing that all of the students have the CNA skills. So a certain level of proficiency is necessary, and the CNA license assures the instructor that those base-line abilities exist.
No. UW accepts a CNA license from any state.
