Sensory neuroscience

Neuroanatomy and electrophysiology are combined to study the organization of sensory afferents to the spinal cord. The figure shows the distinct projections of an intracellularly stained skin tactile sensory neuron (green) and a putative nociceptive (i.e., pain) sensory neuron (red) in the dorsal horn of a newborn mouse.
