Pharmacy Weekend Kicks Off University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy's 60th Anniversary |

Aug. 23, 2006 -- Laramie, WY -- Pharmacy Weekend kicks off The University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy's 60th anniversary on Friday, September 15-16, 2006 on the UW campus.
Brent Sherard, M.D., M.P.H., Director and State Health Officer at the Wyoming Department of Health, is the keynote speaker at the annual Otis L. Hoy Memorial Seminar for Pharmacy Weekend. His presentation, "Pandemic Influenza, Past and Present," will be held at The University of Wyoming Ag Auditorium at 2:00 p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public. However, Dr. Sherard's presentation qualifies for Continuing Education credits with registration. A reception honoring Dr. Sherard will immediately follow in the open area adjacent to classroom 427 of the new Health Sciences Center.
In addition to Dr. Sherard's presentation, the weekend also includes additional Continuing Education programs concerning pharmacists' role in pandemic flu, an annual tailgate party, and concludes with an outing to see the Wyoming Cowboys playing Boise State.
Dean David W. O'Day founded The School of Pharmacy in 1946, where it was located in Merica Hall. It has grown to become an important part of the College of Health Sciences, where 60 years later, it is located in the newly remodeled Health Sciences Center.
