Video-Conferencing Abstract to be Presented at International Conference |

An abstract by Tracy Mahvan, Pharm.D., associate professor of pharmacy practice and Jennifer Petrie, Pharm.D., assistant professor of pharmacy practice with the University of Wyoming College of Health Sciences School of Pharmacy, and Rocsanna Namdar, assistant professor of pharmacy practice with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center has been accepted as an oral presentation at the International Conference on Education and New Learning Technology in Barcelona, Spain July 6–8, 2009.
The abstract titled "Video-Conferencing as a Means of Delivering Core Curriculum: A Development, Methodology, and Assessment Project," (abstract ID:966, MahvanT; NamdarR; PetrieJ) involved a study conducted during the spring of 2008. During the study Dr. Mahvan taught eight hours of Therapeutics via video conferencing from Boulder, Colorado to UW School of Pharmacy students in a classroom in Laramie, Wyoming. An assessment survey was conducted at the end of the lectures which was favorable for student learning and acceptability of this methodology.
The conference in Barcelona is a unique international forum which will bring together professionals in the field of education and technology. It provides an opportunity for participants to share experiences and projects with educators and professionals from all parts of the world. Participants discuss the innovations in the methodologies applied to education and research, new learning technologies in education and e-learning.
