ASP Participates in American Pharmacists' Month Activities

Printable Article Email this Article

The Academy of Student Pharmacists (ASP) at the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy participated in American Pharmacists' Month by getting together and baking cookies at their chapter adviser's home. Members then distributed the cookies to various pharmacies throughout the community as a special way to say thank you to all the pharmacists in Laramie who have worked so hard to include them and their peers as interns and student pharmacists in their practices.

The learning and leadership experiences members have obtained through interaction with patients, pharmacists, and faculty members have been extremely rewarding, and those who spent time teaching were very deserving of a treat. The group may have gotten more out of the experience of making the cookies than those who were able to enjoy them, however, as their adviser's kitchen had quite a bit of powdered sugar everywhere when they were finished!

ASP also sold baked goods in the UW Union breezeway to help fund chapter members' travel to this year's APHA-ASP Midyear Regional Meeting in Iowa City. An educational component to the table included informational brochures about immunizations and heartburn.
