Annual Honors and Awards Banquet and 60th Anniversary Celebration

      The School of Pharmacy Annual Honors and Awards Banquet was held on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at Crane-Hill. This year's banquet was combined with the school's 60th Anniversary Celebration. Guests included donors and friends of the school in addition to students, faculty, staff and their guests.

     Speakers included Dean Kelley who thanked the school and college's many contributors, Dean Vandel who honored the 2007 graduating class and winners of the school's scholarships and awards, and John Stark from the UW Foundation who announced the beginning of the Dean David W. O'Day Endowment Fund in honor of the school's first dean.

     John Baldwin, Dean Emeritus and previous dean of the school traveled over 2000 miles from Florida to attend and was given a UW shirt for winning the "person who traveled the farthest" award. In presenting the shirt to Dean Baldwin, Bobbie Cesko announced that it was fitting for him to receive a shirt "for all the years he had given the school the shirt off his back."  Dean Baldwin and other scholarship donors, Dr. Kenneth and Nancy Henderson, alumna Whitney Buckley representing the Wyoming Pharmacy Association, posed for photos with the scholarship winners.

     The evening was capped off by a "South Park" PowerPoint faculty recognition segment presented by Kyle Kelly as a thank you from the Class of 2007 to the faculty and staff.

Awards

Faculty Preceptor of the Year Award – awarded to Michelle Hilaire, selected by the students as the first faculty preceptor of the year.

Phi Lambda Sigma Teacher of the Year Award – awarded to Glaucia Teixeira for second year in a row.
