The University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy Phi Delta Chi Alpha Mu Chapter received a national achievement award at the 66th Grand Council of Phi Delta Chi held July 31–August 4 in West Palm Beach, Florida. The chapter received the award for participation in The Dale W. Doerr Achievement Awards Program. The program is designed to foster brotherhood and service by having each chapter complete monthly projects throughout the year. Due to participation in the program through various activities Alpha Mu sponsored during the 2006–07 academic year, the chapter received a trophy, which will be displayed in the UW School of Pharmacy.
This was the first time in eight years that Alpha Mu has been represented at Grand Council. Members of the Alpha Mu Chapter attending the conference were Shanna O'Connor, president; Kylee Kern, vice-president; Kara Riskowski, financial officer; and Raven Callas, correspondent. Alpha Mu was proud to represent Wyoming to a national audience at such a significant event as Grand Council and will continue to work hard to bring honors to the School of Pharmacy.
Phi Delta Chi, America's first professional fraternity in pharmacy, has worked to advance the profession of pharmacy and its allied interests since 1883, and is a national community of pharmacy that prides itself on the values of brotherhood, service, and integrity. With chapters across the nation, Phi Delta Chi provides a network for its members to communicate and help each other on many different levels.
Grand Council is held every two years and focuses on building chapter character, addressing the needs of the community, and various fundraising opportunities. The 2007 Grand Council saw members from every chapter in attendance, with members from all across the country meeting each other and participating in activities including leadership training, team building, and fraternal education.
