The Annual Honors and Awards Banquet and Donor Recognition evening was held May 3 at the Crane-Hill Cafeteria and was a great success. The program celebrated the Class of 2008 and honored recipients of awards and scholarships. The event also recognized donors whose support helps make these accomplishments possible.
Roche Pharmacy Preceptor of the Year Award
The Roche Pharmacy Preceptor of the Year for 2008 is Heidi Cooper-Justus. Cooper-Justus was chosen not only for her knowledge and communication skills but also for being an advocate of the changing nature of pharmacy. She encouraged self-directed learning, following up with feedback and discussions that benefited the students' overall experience at her site, the VA Medical Center in Sheridan, Wyoming.
Class of 2008 Honors Faculty
The Class of 2008 presented the following awards to School of Pharmacy faculty in recognition of their contributions to the academic achievement and personal growth of the Class of 2008:
• Teacher of the Year: Sreejayan Nair, Ph.D., associate professor of pharmacology
• Faculty Preceptor of the Year: Jennifer Petrie, Pharm.D., clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice
Phi Lambda Sigma Teacher of the Year Award
The Phi Lambda Sigma Teacher of the Year Award was presented to Sreejayan Nair, Ph.D. Phi Lambda Sigma, the School of Pharmacy leadership honorary, surveys the graduating doctor of pharmacy students each year to select the best teacher they had during their four professional years.
