C-CRAM Continues Research Excellence

C-CRAM Directors

The Center for Cardiovascular Research and Alternative Medicine (C-CRAM) is celebrating four years of outstanding research contributions in the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Activities of C-CRAM involve scientific research, obtaining grants or fellowships to foster students' careers, education and teaching, and scholarly exchange.

C-CRAM's impressive accomplishments for fiscal year 2007 include publishing 49 articles in national and international medical and pharmaceutical journals, receiving 22 research grants totaling more than $2 million (four grants were for researchers in other departments outside of the School of Pharmacy, totaling $564,987), 25 national and international conference presentations, and presenting nine seminars around the world.

Leadership Changes

Ji Li, Ph.D., assistant professor of pharmacology, was recently appointed the new director of C-CRAM. Sreejayan Nair, Ph.D., associate professor of pharmacology, was recently appointed associate director. The founding directors, Jun Ren, M.D., Ph.D., professor of pharmacology and physiology, and Bruce Culver, Ph.D., professor and director of pharmaceutical sciences, have stepped down as directors but will remain active members of the group.
