Folsom points are made by a specialized biface manufacturing technique, which may be an extension of the Clovis technology. The finishing techniques include a minimal margin retouch, and a fine, steep, overall marginal retouch. The Folsom points are characterized by channel fluting , the removal of a distinctive flake, at the base of a lanceolate shaped point (see below, outlined in yellow).
