Wyoming Energy History

This week’s highlight in Wyoming’s energy history focuses on the Burlington Railroad. The Burlington Railroad first arrived in Newcastle, Wyoming in 1889 and made its way through the state and into Casper, Wyoming in 1913, with the first train arriving in Worland in 1906. While the Union Pacific railroad was what kicked off the economy in the southern part of the state, the Burlington Railroad is what brought growth and development into the northern half.
