Baker Hughes Rig Counts

Baker Hughes reports the following rig count activity exploring for oil and/or natural gas.

  • U.S. rig count is down 1 rig from last week to 1,026 rigs, with oil down 1 and gas rigs unchanged at 193.
  • The U.S. rig count is up 36 rigs from last year's count of 990 with oil rigs up 33 and gas rigs up 4.
  • The Wyoming rig count remains at 36.
  • Colorado's rig count remains at 34.
  • New Mexico is up 1 rig from last week to 106.
  • North Dakota is up 3 from last week to 56.
  • Texas is down 1 rig to 501.

Opening Prices from Bloomberg Energy

  • West Texas Intermediate (WTI) opened at $58.51 up $2.08 from last week.
  • Brent Crude opened at $67.18 slight up from last week's price of $66.08.
  • Natural gas opened at $2.85 down $.02 from last week.
