Baker Hughes Rig Counts

Baker Hughes reports the total rig counts for this week.

  • The U.S. rig count is down 1 rig from last week to 990, with oil rigs up 2 to 807, gas rigs down 3 to 183, and miscellaneous rigs unchanged at 0.
  • The U.S. rig counts is down 41 rigs from last year's count of 1,032, with oil rigs down 27, gas rigs down 13, and miscellaneous down 2. 
  • The Wyoming rig count remains at 32. 
  • The Colorado rig count is up from last week to 33. 
  • The New Mexico rig count is at 106, up 2 from last week. 
  • The North Dakota rig count is down to 57 from last week's 58. 
  • The Texas rig count is at 484, down 7 from last week's 491.

Opening Prices from Bloomberg Energy May 3

  • West Texas Intermediate (WTI) opened at $61.55, up from last week.
  • Brent Crude opened at $70.48, down from last week's $74.20.
  • Natural Gas opened at $2.59, up from last week's price of $2.50.
