The University of Wyoming’s School of Energy Resources (SER) is celebrating the 8th Annual Energy Day in partnership with UW Sports Properties on Saturday, Sept. 18 at War Memorial Stadium as the Cowboys take on the Ball State Cardinals.

Prior to the 2:00 p.m. kickoff, members of the public are invited to visit with energy vendors from around the state at booths in the Indoor Practice Facility. SER will host a booth with giveaways, games of cornhole, and information on the cutting-edge research projects going on at SER as well as information on the SER academic program.

“Energy Day is a wonderful opportunity for energy companies, research partners, and vendors from around the state to connect with others and celebrate all that the energy industry has contributed to Wyoming,” says SER Executive Director Holly Krutka “This is SER’s eighth year sponsoring the event and we encourage folks to visit our booth and continue to support the industry that will continue to drive Wyoming into the future.”

Friday before the game, SER will also be hosting a smattering of events along with other energy partners and collaborators. Kicking off the festivities will be a presentation by the Executive Director of the Wyoming Energy Authority, Glen Murrell. Dr. Murrell will discuss Wyoming’s new energy strategy as part of the SER Distinguished Speakers Series. The presentation will begin at 11:45 in the Energy Innovation Center.

Following the presentation, SER will offer tours of the Energy Innovation Center where students, UW faculty and staff and members of the public can learn more about SER and its ongoing activities. Tours will be offered between 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. anyone interested in attending a tour can register in advance.

Capping off the evening, SER will host a pregame reception downtown at the Library Sports Grille and Brewery from 5-7 p.m. for its energy guests and partners. The reception is cosponsored by PCL Industrial Construction Co. (PCL), the Wyoming Association of Professional Landmen (WAPL) and the Student Chapter of the Energy Resources Club.

“We are excited for the opportunity to connect our students with important members of the energy industry,” says SER Academic Advising Manager, Kami Danaei. “Our interdisciplinary program is unmatched in preparing students for a future in energy, but speaking with and learning from the industry stakeholders on the ground is invaluable.”
