Come join other Paul D. Coverdell fellows in the School of Politics, Public Affairs & International studies as a Graduate Assistant in our International Studies, Political Science, or MPA programs.
The Coverdell Fellowship is open to all Peace Corps volunteers and covers tuition for up to 12 credit hours of classes. Coverdell fellows also receive a stipend for work they do as Graduate Assistants for The School of Politics, Public Affairs, & International Studies (SPPAIS).
Positions are awarded on a competitive basis and require full-time presence in Laramie for the academic year. If interested, please submit an application to the School of Politics, Public Affairs & International Studies. The deadline for applications is February 1st for the MA programs, and March 15th for the MPA program.

As part of the application process you should answer the Graduate Assistantship questions under "Program Questions" within the program application. More information can be found here.
As a part of the Coverdell Fellowship, students will be asked to participate in a community support project that aligns with their research interests. Students will have a wide range of opportunities related directly to the six core project areas of P.C. service.
Operating within the strong Laramie community fabric, students can find a number of volunteer opportunities and intern in youth development and education projects with organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters, or through practicums in the College of Education. It also allows for connections with local political institutions for students interested in community or economic development.
The ACRES student farm accommodates students interested in agriculture, as does UW’s network of extension offices throughout the state. Our wide-ranging study abroad network allows for opportunities outside the United States in relevant regions, for example in Kenya and Mongolia.
Our Environment and Natural Resources program is well equipped to accommodate students with a wide range of interest areas. Each May, the Haub School takes undergrad and graduate students to Jackson, WY to partner with community leaders, conduct research, interview stakeholders and develop solutions to local environmental challenges.
Finally, individuals can work through institutions such as the School of Nursing to participate in clinicals that fulfill health internship requirements. Your internship hours and schedule will be determined in collaboration with the site and will be individualized for you.
Our students land a great variety of jobs in business, banking, non-profits, as well as local, state, and national government. Our grads have gone on to become leaders in their fields. One of our most famous is Chris Spear, MPA '92: President of the American Trucking Association.
