One of Kelli's primary interests (both for research and practice) is the melding of clinical and macro practice.  Kelli clinical experience began with collaboration with the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing, to develop a "Wellness Center" providing medical and social service assessments to very low income senior citizens in Baltimore city.  Since then she has experience in working with developmentally disabled adults and homeless families. During these varied interactions Kelli realized that issues regarding spirituality appeared to be something that crossed the practice spectrum.

Kelli's dissertation topic was on the use of spirituality in social work practice and she is pursuing a follow-up to that study to examine the impact of race and/or ethnicity on spiritual interaction utilization.

In addition, during her doctoral education Kelli became interested in environmental issues and present at the International Federation of Social Workers conference in Munich.  This exposure broadened Kelli's interests to include the issues of international social work.

Research Interests:
Kelli's primary research interests are in the areas of religion/spirituality and its implications for social work practice. In addition, she is interested in exploring issues of family violence and international social work.

Teaching:
Presently, she teaches BSW Methods I, MSW Research and will be teaching policy at both the BSW and MSW levels this spring. Kelli is also working with Dr. Schatz to coordinate the Social Work departments study abroad program
