Art Museum Panel Examines Dance Concert's Creative Process

March 2, 2007 -- The creative process behind the University of Wyoming’s spring dance concert will be the focus of a panel discussion Monday, March 5, at 7 p.m. at the UW Art Museum.

Four faculty members will discuss the process of creating the Department of Theatre and Dance spring concert “.the body through which the dream flows.” The museum’s galleries will be open until 9 p.m. for viewers to see the exhibition “Women's Work, a century of art by women.”

Margaret Wilson, choreographer, will be joined by Meg Van Baalen Wood, script author, Patricia Colberg, actor, and Jennifer Deckert, featured dancer, for a panel discussion on the collaborative creative process in developing the production’s script and choreography.

The dance concert, scheduled through Sunday at the Fine Arts Center, explores and celebrates the embodiment of creativity in women through time. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. March 1-3, and at 2 p.m. March 3-4.

Concurrently, the art museum’s exhibition “Women's Work” celebrates the visual creativity of women artists during the last 100 years. Drawn from the art museum's permanent collection, the exhibition offers highlights of the vast accomplishments of women in mainstream art in the United States. The exhibition continues through May 5.

Located in the Centennial Complex at 22nd and Willett Drive in Laramie, the UW Art Museum is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Mondays. For more information call the art museum at (307) 766-6622 or visit https://www.uwyo.edu/artmuseum.
