UW to Present "A New Season Of Dance"

March 8, 2002 -- Tickets are now on sale for the University of Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance performance of "A New Season of Dance" March 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. and March 17 at 2 p.m. in the College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

Tickets cost $6 for UW students, $9 for senior citizens and $10.50 for others. Call 766-3327 for ticket information.

The main choreographers are Bill Evans and Margaret Stalder. Evans, an internationally-known teacher, dancer and choreographer, served a two-week residency at UW in December. He has performed as a soloist and has choreographed more than 175 works for ballet, modern, and tap dance companies around the world. He has been honored with the Guggenheim Fellowship, and has received nearly 50 grants from federal, state and provincial arts agencies and universities. He is artistic director of the Bill Evans Dance Company (founded in 1975), the Bill Evans Summer Institute of Dance (founded in 1976) and the Bill Evans Teacher's Intensive (founded in 1999).

Stalder teaches modern dance technique, kinesiology, composition, creative movement and ballet at UW. Her choreography has been presented in various venues around Wyoming and at regional meetings of the American College Dance Festival Association and the Rocky Mountain Theatre Association.

Other contributing choreographers are UW faculty members Marcia Knight, General McArthur Hambrick and Neil Humphrey, and Ty Tedmon, UW student from Laramie.
