UW Stage Technician to Manage Live Audio Theatre Broadcast
May 17, 2010 -- University of Wyoming senior stage technician Natalie Dollison has
been chosen as stage manager for this year's live audio theatre production in West
Plains, Mo., sponsored by The National Audio Theatre Festivals.Event organizers say
Dollison was chosen because of "the dedication and enthusiasm she has brought to previous
workshops."The week-long event is held June 20-26 in the tiny town of West Plains,
but draws veterans of audio theatre from all over the United States and Canada. The
week includes workshops on the different aspects of audio theatre, as well as the
rehearsal and live broadcast of several scripts.Dollison first began working with
NATF in the summer of 2008 as a way to gain professional development for her job as
sound engineer in UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium. Her first summer, in
addition to attending several audio workshops, she worked as assistant director and
lent her talents as a voice-over actor. She also attended a week-long master class
in New York City devoted to sound engineering, also sponsored by NATF. Last summer,
Dollison was given the job of sampler artist.A 2005 UW graduate with a B.F.A. degree
in theatre, she has been able to take the skills she has learned from some of the
nations top audio theatre specialists and apply it to her job at the university.The
theme for this year's festival is the African-American Experience. A production of
Leap For Freedom, based on the life of abolitionist William Wells Brown will be performed,
as well as Road Angels, a play that revolves around a gang in a tale of transformation,
transmigration and transcendence.For more information visit the
