June 7, 2002 -- What happens when a mole, a rat and a badger venture into the wild
woods in search of the great and glorious Toad? Find out during the University of
Wyoming Department of Theatre and Dance's summer production of the "Wind in the Willows,"
beginning Friday, June 14, at 7 p.m.
Other performances of the classic story are scheduled June 15-16 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.;
June 22-23 at 2 p.m.; June 29 at 10 a.m.; June 30 at 2 p.m.; and July 2-3 and 5-6
at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $9 for senior citizens and $5 for students.
All performances will be in the Fine Arts Center's Studio Theatre. The show runs about
one hour, which makes it a perfect choice for younger theatre patrons. Adults, too,
will enjoy the rapid pace and witty humor.
Director Harry Woods brings the story to life with an exciting plot, upbeat music,
and lessons in temptation and friendship. He crafts the production with the same inventiveness
and skill seen in his previous shows such as "Secrets" and "Painting Churches."
Cast members include UW students and alumni Todd McCullough (Rat), Stephanie Hanson
(Mole), Bridget Karson (Badger) and K.H. Sweeney (humans). Kevin Carroll of Portland,
Ore., a newcomer to the UW stage, plays Toad. Award-winning set designer, Scott Jones,
creates the woody environment that will make audience members feel like a forest creature
the second they enter the theatre.
