Snowy Range Dance Festival Concert is Wednesday

July 22, 2002 -- Students attending the University of Wyoming's Snowy Range Summer Dance festival will perform a free concert Wednesday, July 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the UW College of Arts and Sciences auditorium.

The students, who range from junior high to adult, are participating in a challenging 11 day study of dance on the UW campus. Wednesday's concert will feature new works choreographed by festival students.

Dance festival students attend daily classes including stretch, pilates, ballet (3 levels), pointe, modern (3 levels involving technique, styles, improvisation and composition), jazz (3 levels), tap (3 levels), repertoire classes and workshops.

Ty Tedmon, dance festival assistant director and UW Department of Theatre and Dance alumnus, has participated regularly in the festival. "One of the greatest experiences for a college age dancer is to work with the incredible and talented guest artists who teach at this festival," he says. "Not only has this given me the opportunity to work with artists in the studio, but also make friendships and connections which will continue throughout my career."

The concert series concludes Saturday, July 27, at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by Tony Coppola, Jay Franke, and John Pennington (with students in repertoire by Cameron Basden, Peter Pucci, Franke, Pennington, and Coppola).
