How to Plan

Read below for more information on Check-In for the Snowy Range Summer Dance Festival, along with what to pack.

The Google map location and directions for the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA), the main facility for the festival, is shown below.

Festival Registration Day information will be added in July 2023.

What to Bring

You'll need all your favorite dance attire, clothes and things to make you comfortable while you stay! Consult this list so you don't forget anything.

Please let us know by July 1 if you require vegetarian or a special diet or any other special needs. Washakie Dining hall has many options for the students, including gluten free.

Ballet

FEMALES

  • Tights: Pink and black (suitable for class & performance)

  • Leotards: Minimum 1 black, solid colors preferred (suitable for class & performance)

  • Wrap skirt: (optional, mid-thigh or shorter/preferably chiffon or tricot)

  • Pink technique shoes

  • Pointe shoes (optional for those with previous pointe training)

MALES

  • Black tights

  • White t-shirts

  • Black or white technique shoes/white socks

  • Dance belts 

Modern

  • Footless tights, dance pants, or shorts (suitable for class & performance).

  • Solid color leotard or top - no printing on top, please (Suitable for class & performance)

  • Bare foot or Modern sandal

Jazz

  • Tights, leotards, Jazz pants (suitable for class & performance) No bare mid-drifts or short shorts, please.

  • Jazz shoes or sneakers are preferred, however you may wear modern sandals or go barefoot in level I.

If you have character shoes, please bring them for musical theatre and flamenco.

Tap

Tap* is an optional class.

Please bring tights, leotards, shorts, Jazz wear (suitable for class & performance)

*Please make sure your shoes are in good condition, no exposed screws, etc.

Performance

For students who plan to participate in the Student Showcase Concert please pack these items:

  • Costume or desired dance attire for the performance

  • Personal make-up Kit

  • CD or music file - labeled with your name

 

Street Clothes

  • Casual Clothes - shorts, skirts, blouses, t-shirts, jeans, sweats, sweat shirts, sweaters, jackets, and tennis shoes. Laramie is chilly in the evenings and early morning, bring clothes you can layer.

  • Concert Attire - Informal, but nice

Special Items

  • A re-freezable ice pack with your name on it

  • Thera-band/stretchy band for stretching and warm-up. (Available for purchase at the festival)

  • Your personal First Aid Kit and supplies for "tired feet" (a used tennis ball or massage tool)

  • Shower shoes

  • Spiral or binder notebook (small enough to fit in dance bag) and pencil/pen.

  • Sharpie marker to mark your personal items

  • Pilates / exercise mat (highly recommended)

  • Performance make-up kit and hair accessories

  • Healthy snacks for the week

  • Water bottle

Miscellaneous Items

  • Swimming suit and Towel

  • A night-light or lamp for your dorm room.

  • Small room fan

  • Sunscreen/Bugspray

Also your favorite pillow, stuffed animals, and an extra blanket might help you feel more at home. Bed linens and towels are provided, no need to pack these. Electronics are allowed in the dorm rooms only.

Hotels

PLAN AHEAD. Laramie Jubilee Days overlaps with the dance festival, and hotels will be filling up (special rates unavailable). We advise that you book hotel rooms well in advance.

Internet Access

There is wireless at the dorms for your laptops, but it can be slow in peak times. Ethernet cables are available at the front desk of the dorms for a charge. Coverage is adequate in the Performing Arts Building.
