COVID Transfer PoliciesTransfer

In response to common transfer student questions and concerns, the university has adopted policies to specifically support transfer students during this unprecedented time. Please review the links below as appropriate. If you have questions about these policies or other unique situations, please reach out to us at transfer@uwyo.edu.

  • Students Taking Classes at Other Institutions

Given our campus closure in the spring semester, as well as the move to virtual learning for many summer/fall classes, some students have inquired about taking courses at other institutions in order to expedite the completion of their UW degree. As a general rule, UW is a transfer-friendly institution and will accept credit from other institutions, even after a student has already begun their UW degree program. With that said, students should check with their advisor and our transfer evaluation tools to make sure the courses taken at other institutions will, in fact, meet degree requirements at UW. To facilitate this discussion, we have a form from our Office of the Registrar to identify courses which a student might wish to take at another institution AND how those courses will transfer. A student should discuss external transfer courses with their UW advisor to ensure the classes will fully meet their UW degree requirements.
