BP America receives Outstanding Research Partner Award

BP America has been awarded this year's Outstanding Research Partner Award for its support of reclamation research and its funding for the Wyoming Reclamation and Restoration Center (WRRC) housed in the college.

"BP is very proud to receive this award and to have a great partner like the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources in our reclamation efforts," says Chad Calvert, director, government and public affairs for the Rocky Mountain region.

"Getting reclamation right is good business. It's good for the land, it's good for the ranchers, it's good for us, and it's good for the state of Wyoming."

Professor Pete Stahl is WRRC director.

"These guys have been our biggest supporters of the goals of the WRRC and have really led the way as far as gaining industry support for the center," he says. "They've been really good about providing field research sites for a number of research questions."

The funding has paid for several projects with the WRRC to identify effective and timely reclamation practices.

"Our thanks go to the university for their ongoing investment in the WRRC and to Dean Frank Galey and Pete Stahl for their vision and commitment," says Calvert. "BP will continue our work with the center to help make UW the center of excellence for reclamation science."
