The University of Wyoming’s mission includes accessibility, welcoming students with a variety of GPAs and test scores from across the state and around the world. Its mission also includes rigorous scholarship, and where the two meet, you have top students whose horizons are broadened by the people and opportunities the university brings together.
“We attract students who like a smaller research institution,” says Alyson Hagy, associate vice president for undergraduate education, citing the low student-to-faculty ratio. “That environment is where our best students really shine, whether they are in fine arts where there’s intense one-on-one apprenticeship work, or they’re doing laboratory work, or they’re working on socially engaged projects with Student Leadership and Community Engagement (SLCE) or with International Programs. We provide a lot of opportunities per capita here.”
“It’s so easy to be a part of opportunities at UW because of the size and because faculty take a special interest in students,” adds Sara Axelson, vice president of student affairs. “What brings me the most joy at UW is working with our incredible students. They achieve at the highest level, and many seize every opportunity that comes before them.”
