Associate Director for the office of Advising, Career and Exploratory Studies (ACES) at the University of Wyoming
Richard Miller’s career in higher education has spanned 25 years and included several positions with the TRiO programs as well as his current as the Associate Director for the office of Advising, Career and Exploratory Studies (ACES) at the University of Wyoming. Mr. Miller received his Bachelor of Science in Geography and Master of Science in Counselor Education from the University of Wyoming and is a former licensed counselor.
Darryl Jones | Working Together to Outlast and Eliminate Bias
Senior Associate Director of Admissions Coordinator for Multicultural Admissions & Intercollegiate Athletics Liaison
In 35 years of experience in higher education, Darryl has served as a nationally recognized speaker to schools on a variety of admissions and access related topics, is an innovator of unique partnerships with community-based organizations that serve that traditionally underserved, and a 2020 recipient of the Delwin K. Gustagson Award by the Pennsylvanian Association for College Admissions Counseling (PACAC), the association's highest honor. Dr. Colleen Carmean | Nudging Students to Success
Founder and President of Ethical Analytics Group @ University of Washington Tacoma
Colleen is the founder of the Ethical Analytics Group, a consortium supporting education in moving to evidence in practices, decisions and innovations in student success. She is an advocate and strategist for analytics, e-learning, and new pedagogies. Her research is in emerging learning technologies and focuses on systems that bring together discovery, engagement, the user experience (UX), and assessment. Current projects include helping prepare two state of Washington school districts for the re-opening (and possible closing) of school in Fall 2020. Dr. Steven Barrett | Opening Remarks on Friday, August 14th
Associate Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education @ University of Wyoming
Steven F. Barrett, Ph.D., P.E., received the BS Electronic Engineering Technology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1979, the M.E.E.E. from the University of Idaho at Moscow in 1986, and the Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin in 1993. He was formally an active duty faculty member at the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado and is now the Associate Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education at the University of Wyoming and Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.
Dr. Sue Ohrablo | Replicating Face-to-Face Advising via Email
Executive Director of Undergraduate Academic Advising @ Jacksonville University
Sue has over 35 years of experience in higher education administration, working in public and private institutions and with diverse student populations ranging from freshman to doctoral level students. She has held positions as advising administrator, academic advisor, personal counselor, career counselor, and employment specialist. Sue is the author of High-Impact Advising:A Guide for Academic Advisors and The Pocket Advisor: A Family Guide to Navigating College, and currently serves as the Executive Director of Undergraduate Academic Advising at Jacksonville University.
